Washington slipper to avenge 'Gandhi-Bot' beer
US based brewer had launched Gandhi-Bot beer
Coimbatore: In retaliation against the launch of Gandhi-Bot beer by a US based brewer New England Brewing Company, a Kerala-based footwear manufacturer has offered to design, produce and supply 100 pairs of George Washington range of slippers.
Prototypes of the George Washington slippers will be put on display in front of the US embassy in New Delhi on January 26 to grab the attention of US President Barack Obama, who is scheduled to participate in the Republic day anniversary celebrations as the national guest.
The offices of US President, Vice-President, Speaker of US Parliament, Chief Justice, Leader of Opposition, Governors of all 50 States, 2 Members of US Congress with Indian linkages, owners of the brewery and US Amba-ssador to India may receive a pair of chappals.
According to activist A. Ramasubramaiam, the special range of men’s flip-flops named after “George Washington” who is considered the pioneer among the founding fathers and was the first President of USA, is being released as a retaliation measure. This follows the New England Brewing Company based in Connecticut recently launching a beer branded as “Gandhi-Bot”, with the Mahatma's image printed on the can, thus insulting the Father of the Nation.
