New Delhi: India will be pitching for ‘Make-in-India’ during the five-day annual jamboree of the global business elite at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
India’s contingent will be led by finance minister Arun Jaitley and will include power minister Piyush Goyal and Chief Ministers of Maharashtra Andhra Pradesh along with chief economic adviser Arvind Subramanian.
World leaders are making a beeline for this year’s World Economic Forum summit, which has emerged as the most important global business conference and attracts top investors and thinkers.
In a rarity for Chinese leaders, Premier Li Keqiang will attend the WEF this year.
India Inc too will be present in full force. Tata group chief Cyrus Mistry, RIL’s Mukesh Ambani, ICICI Bank’s Chanda Kochhar, Jet Airways’ Naresh Goyal, TCS’ N Chandrasekaran and SBI’s Arundhati Bhattacharya will be in Davos.
Jaitley is expected to talk at World Economic Forum on how new leadership is transforming the business, political and social landscape of India. He would also be participating in a discussion on how India as the world’s most populous democracy will revive and accelerate economic modernisation, growth and job creation. Power and coal Minister Piyush Goyal will discuss on how new business models are scaling energy decentralisation and emissions reduction.
This year the famous ‘India Adda’ will be replaced by ‘Make in India’ lounge. ‘India Adda’ was frequented by Indian and other leaders to savour desi delicacies and do some networking.
