Hyderabad: The cab driver who was caught for filming a woman passenger, belonged to Victor Logistics that had been hired by the victim’s firm.

According to Malkajgiri DCP and the head of She Teams Rama Rajeswari, the incident occurred at around 11.30 am at IIIT junction. “One of our She Teams was on the move as part of their duty. An officer saw a slow-moving cab.

The woman was sleeping in the front seat and the driver was filming her with his mobile. He was driving with one hand and filming with another,” she said.

After stopping the car, the police asked Rasheed to step out and alerted the victim. “Our officer took his mobile and found a few photos of her.

There was also a seven-minute clip that he had filmed of her sleeping,” she said. Police suspect that if they had not intervened, things could have gotten out of hand and the woman might have been molested or even raped.

Rasheed was booked under IPC 354A, and D with Criminal Amendment Act (Voyeurism and Stalking). The manager of the victim’s firm filed a complaint.

Victor Logistics confessed that they had not conducted a background check on him. Meanwhile, Rasheed tried to escape by pretending illness, but surrendered in the end.

“We generally cannot conduct background checks of the drivers. But we only employ drivers when they have a car with Cyberabad police registration (which Rasheed did),” said an official.
