Coal scam: Former PM Manmohan Singh grilled by CBI
CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad refused to confirm or deny the development
New Delhi: Former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is believed to have been examined by the CBI in connection with agency’s investigations into the allocation of Talabira II coal block to Hindalco in 2005.
The agency officials were tight-lipped about the examination of Dr Singh. They even refused to disclose the time of his examination. CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad refused to confirm or deny the development. It is believed that the former PM was examined by the agency sleuths at his residence two days ago.
It is learnt that the agency officials also examined B.V.R. Subramanyam, who was PS to then prime minister and T.K.A. Nair, who was working as principal secretary in the PMO, in connection with the case. “The court had directed the investigating agency to examine these two officials also in connection with the case,” sources said.
