Hyderabad: Notorious rapists are now being booked under the Goonda Act (PD Act).
For the first time, Cyberabad police has sent two alleged rapists, who were involved in the snake gang case, to jail by booking them under the Act. The duo, Tayyab Basalama, 20, from Bandlaguda of Chandrayangutta, and Mohammed Ishaq, 25, from Shaheen Nagar, had come out on bail a month ago but cops decided to lock them up again. The rest of the gang is in jail as they did not get bail.
While Ishaq was involved in two criminal cases, Tayyab was involved in four cases including rape. Their snake gang was notorious for extortion and criminal intimidation in the Pahadi Shareef area.
Police officials said that following an order from commissioner C.V. Anand, the duo were booked under Sub-Section (2) of Section 3 of the Andhra Pradesh Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Dacoits, Drug Offenders, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Land Grabbers Act,
Officials said the gang was involved in rape, criminal trespass, land-grabbing, criminal Intimidation, cruelty towards animals and violent acts using snakes and other weapons. Both the rowdy sheeters and their gang used snakes and other weapons to frighten women and couples. They used to beat them up and rape women. They also used to film their rape victims. The gang created panic among the public.
