Movie Review 'Siddhartha': A 'one time' break
Director: Prakash Jayaram
Cast: Vinay Raghavendra Rajkumar, Apoorva Arora, Ashish Vidyarthi, Nikki Galrani
Rating: 3 stars
With the third generation of Sandalwood’s first family making a grand debut, there were huge expectations on Vinay Raghavendra with every bit of his skills – from acting, dancing to fighting being closely watched. Though he has managed to score an average good, the soft launch with 'Siddhartha' offers nothing new with a simple storyline and even the making of the movie directed by Prakash from the 'Milana' fame. Milana was webbed around post marriage drama and whereas'Siddhartha' is a romantic one which ends before marriage.
After all that excitement surrounding the debut of late thespian Dr Rajkumar’s grandson, 'Siddhartha' is unlike scores of debuts of star-sons or ones with great filmy backgrounds who would ‘roar’ with heroism all throughout the script ‘shouting’ for a grand entry into the film industry. With few fighting scenes and also showcasing his dancing feet, like his two star uncles – Shivarajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar, Vinay lacks a bit on the acting side but does a good attempt considering his debut. At times, he gives an impression of Power Star Puneeth’s Rajkumar into his acting!
Insofar as the movie, it is about a ‘cool’ college going guy with a gang of his own, chilling a musical life along with his friends until he falls in love. Soon the possessive nature of his girlfriend puts him a spot, which distances him from his friends and more important crushing his own space! So, he takes a 20 days break from his girlfriend, and thus the crux of the movie and thereafter the second half drags on and on, up to a predictable climax. And, so the filmy journey starts for Vinay, for more better and entertaining ones.
