HyderabadYadaiah, who was shifted from a footpath in Narsingi to the Friends of Birds of the Air, Nagaram, was given a bath and change of clothes on Friday. Looking neat and clean, He ate well and spoke and behaved normally.

Sister Pollin, one of the home heads, said, “The inmates usually wake up at 5.30 am every day, but since Yadaiah was brought here only on Thursday, he was allowed to sleep for as long as he wanted. At around 9.30 am he was given a bath and a shave. He had upma for breakfast and slept again. For lunch he had rice, sambar, vegetables and curds. He liked the food and asked for a second serving as well. In the evening, I offered him a glass of milk, he refused, but later he had it with a cup of oat porridge.

Speaking more about Yadaiah’s first day at the home, she said,  “When I tried to cut his nails, he allowed me to cut the nails on only one hand. Then he asked me to stop. Yadaiah is comparatively better than the others who were picked up on roads. He was active throughout the day.”

Yadaiah also spoke a lot about his family.  “He said his family pushed him out after he developed a problem in his stomach. He had a lump in his stomach and was operated on. Since then, his family at BHEL never took care of him and he used to live with his younger sister. He had a fall on the road following which he is unable to walk , but can sit on his own. He is quite educated,” she said.

Yadaiah slept well the day he was brought and he was happy with the carrot sweet given in the evening. “‘I don’t like to stay with my family’, these were his  words,” said Francis, a member of the home.
