No gas subsidy for private bank accounts
Consumers holding accounts in private banks have complained of not getting the gas subsidy amount lately
Hyderabad: Domestic LPG consumers holding accounts in private banks have not been receiving subsidy amounts since November 15 last year, when the modified DBT scheme was launched in Telangana.
Consumers holding accounts in private banks like ICICI Bank, Axis Bank etc. have complained of not getting the gas subsidy amount lately. They were, however, receiving the subsidy amounts in their bank accounts in the earlier phase of DBT during the UPA regime.
Instead of addressing the issue by consulting banks and Oil Marketing Companies, officials of the Civil Supplies department are asking the consumers to open fresh accounts in nationalised banks.
“We received complaints from consumers holding accounts in ICICI and Axis banks, of not getting subsidy amount. However, we are asking consumers to open fresh accounts in PSU banks and submit the account details since there is no problem with these banks,” said C. Parthasarathy, commissioner of Civil Supplies.
The department asked consumers to contact helpline numbers of ICICI Bank (040-41066099) and Axis Bank (040-47476635) in case of any problems in receiving subsidy amounts.
