Police fined car driver for not wearing helmet
Police later apologise to the motorist for the mistake
Lucknow: In yet another show of ‘efficiency’, the Lucknow police has fined a car owner for not wearing helmet.
A team of cops carrying out a routine check near the King George Medical University intersection and spotted a car with dark film on the windows and windscreens and asked the driver to stop.
The youth stopped the car and took out the documents. Cops started removing the black film from his car (registration number UP 32 DD 1002) and asked for his driving license, which he did not have at that time.
In the meantime, another constable who was issuing challans gave him a ticket. He was found violating Motor Vehicle Act rules for black film on the car glasses and for driving without license. But the head constable also held him guilty of not wearing helmet while driving.
Additional superintendent of traffic police Gyan Prakash Chaturvedi said it was an inadvertent mistake and human error. “It was not intentional and we apologise to the motorist for the mistake,” he said.
