5 rescued kids from Dhaka
Their parents might have migrated to Bengal in search of livelihood
Hyderabad: Five children among the 220 rescued from bondage are suspected to be from Bangladesh.
Police suspects that the kids and their parents migrated to West Bengal from where the agents picked them up and brought them to Hyderabad. However, a few kids are not able to recall their native place since their parents were on the move when the agents picked them up.
Meanwhile, the police added charges against the agents and employers under Bonded Labour (Abolition) Act in the FIR.
“Their parents might have migrated to Bengal in search of livelihood. These kids are confused about their identity due to various reasons. We are verifying the details and making arrangements to rehabilitate them,” said V. Satyanarayana, South Zone DCP.
Members of the state commission for protection of child rights, who met the kids on Tuesday, said they could only get one kid from Bangladesh. The members added that most kids do not have any contact details of their parents.
“Since they were being trafficked in their early age, most kids are not able to give their parents details. When we ask, they could only give contact details of the agents, who brought them here,” said one member Mr. Achyuta Rao.
So far the government department could only contact three or four kids’ parents as part of the rehabilitation. The efforts are on to find out the other parents.
“We have contacted Chief Secretary of Bihar to follow up the issue, and help us to find the parents. They have promised us to help us in the pursuit,” said Mr. Rao. The officials also said that it might take another one week to rehabilitate all the kids.
The parents, who contacted the police, confessed that they sent the kids willingly due to poverty. Meanwhile, the labour department will provide financial aid to the kids after collecting fine from the employers in Old city .
South Zone police have already started in investigation in order to find out if there are kidnapped kids among the rescued children. There are few kids from Karnataka and Jharkhand.
