US snubs China on use of South China Sea

New Delhi: In what appears to be a clear snub to China, and against the backdrop of China exerting its influence in the South China Sea, US President Barack Obama on Tuesday said freedom of navigation must be upheld in Asia-Pacific and welcomed a greater role for India.

He also said that “America can be India’s best partner” and also reiterated US support for permanent membership for India of the UN Security Council. He said a world without nukes should be the goal for all.
