IPL auction on Feb 16; Yuvraj Singh, KP attract highest base price
Delhi Daredevils, RCB – with deep pockets – likely to slurp match-winners
Mumbai: It is that time of the year when cricketers go under the hammer. The Indian Premier League player auction will be held on February 16 in Bangalore.
Though there is still no transparency about the number of cricketers in the pool but it has been learnt that Yuvraj Singh – who fetched a bid of Rs 140,000,000 last year – will be available to all franchises again.
Yuvraj, along with Kevin Pietersen, Dinesh Karthik and Hashim Amla have thrown their hats into the ring of highest base price, Rs 20,000,000.

According to a report in ESPN Cricinfo, each franchise will have an additional purse of Rs 30,000,000 above the balance accumulated from Rs 600,000,000 last year apart from the revenue gained after players were released.
The auction – usually a two-day affair – will likely be for a day this time and the spotlight is on Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore who have released all their big players. It remains to be seen how much they they spend and whom they pick for they had a quiet tournament in 2014.
