Madrid: Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a two-match ban following his red card for kicking and punching an opponent during the La Liga clash with Cordoba on Saturday.

According to the Spanish league, the Portugal footballer will not be available for the matches against Real Sociedad and Sevilla. However, he will turn out for the Atletico Madrid tie.

The 29-year-old – not able to create openings against Cordoba – lost his temper and initially lashed out with his hand at Jose Crespo but did not catch the referee’s eye. He could not escape after he kicked Edimar.

Real won the match 2-1 after Gareth Bale converted from a penalty.
