Man claims defamation in 'Haider', demands Rs 50 lakh from Vishal Bharadwaj
Ghulam Hassan Shah has accused the makers for tricking him into a nikah sequence
Mumbai: Ghulam Hassan Shah of Kund has claimed that he was defamed in ‘Haider’ which featured Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The film which was shot in Kashmir features Ghulam in the scene which depicts the nikah ceremony of Tabu and Kay Kay Menon.
According to reports, Ghulam has sent a legal notice to the director accusing him of tricking into becoming a part of the film. It is believed he was told that the footage will be used for educational purposes. Ghulam, the Imam of a mosque claims he lost his job for solemnizing the marriage of the two actors. He is now demanding Rs 50 lakh or an apology for the defamation.
The film, an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet is set amidst the insurgency-hit Kashmir of 1995, won accolades for the brilliant performances.
