Suman sues Gunasekhar over bounce cheque
Rudramadevi director faces court action as cheque for Rs 5 lakh to actor bounces
Actor Suman on Thursday filed a case against Rudramadevi producer-director Gunasekhar at the Nampally court for a cheque being dishonored.
“Yes, he gave me a post-dated cheque for Rs 5 lakh as my last payment and it bounced,” Suman claims. “When we were shooting our last schedule for Rudramadevi, we had asked for our final payments. He said that he did not have enough funds and gave a post-dated cheque. I agreed and finished my work in the film,” the actor says.
But recently, when the actor deposited the cheque, it bounced and the account showed lack of funds. “I then sent my manager to Gunasekhar’s office and even called many times, but he did not respond to my calls or to my manager. People at his office always say that Gunasekhar is busy shooting. Frustrated, I decided to take the legal route,” adds Suman.
“I even worked extra days. But I never asked for money for those extra days. And I never came late either for shoots and always cooperated with the team. Moreover, I lost many offers because of this film as I had given bulk dates to Gunasekhar.”
A hurt Suman adds, “Problem is that he never responds. He could’ve at least called to say that the amount will be adjusted. That’s why my lawyer suggested that I approach the court, as the cheque was still valid.”
He is also planning to file a complaint with the Movie Artistes’ Association.
