Hyderabad: The police and government agencies are finding it difficult to find the parents of the rescued children who were enslaved in bangle manufacturing units in the old city.

The officials could contact only 25 children’s parents so far. Most of the younger kids could not tell the address of their house and had no contact details of their parents. Officials said that a group of 25 children will leave for Bihar on Thursday with some police officers and a child protection officer.

“The older kids could give us some contact details. However, the smaller kids could not. So we are trying other ways to solve the issue,” said State Commission for Protection of Child Rights member Achyuta Rao.

The officials have already contacted the Bihar officials to find out the kids’ parents. Since most kids are from Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada and Jahanabad districts of Bihar, officials from these districts have assured to help Hyderabad officials to trace the parents.

“The police of these districts will also help. They said they would advertise and find the parents,” said an official, who is dealing with the rehabilitation of the children.

The government departments and police were asked to rehabilitate the kids. The labour department has also promised to pay some money to the parents using the penalty levied on the accused individuals.
