Cyberabad police nab 27 in search

3000 houses searched, 63 vehicles seized

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police conducted a cordon and search in Chilkanagar in Uppal in the early hours of Thursday. A police force of around 365 personnel took part in the search led by Malkajgiri DCP Rama Rajeshwari. Around 3,000 houses were searched.

Officials said that during the operation localities where persons from other states without documents were staying were identified. Police sources said the locality is occupied by migrants from all over the country.

The police also suspect that there is a possibility of these areas sheltering criminals. So far about 27 criminals were arrested from this area. Due to the recent cases of burglaries by inter-state gangs, the cops found it necessary to search this area. About six teams were in the outer cordon and four in the inner cordon. There were 19 search teams.

During the search 15 suspects and 12 old criminals (previous offenders) were arrested. About 25 suspects with vehicles were detained and 63 vehicles seized. This includes four four wheelers, 15 three wheelers, and 44 two wheelers. Nine gas cylinders and gas cutters were also seized.
