Thrissur: Notorious  businessman Muhammed Nissam,  who brutally beat up a  security guard in Shoba Group's residential township here, was arrested on Thursday.

The security guard, Chandra Bose, was hit by Nisham's 'Hummer' car for the delay in opening the gate of the township when he reached  there at 3.30 a.m. after a party.  The  seriously injured guard has been  put on ventilator in a hospital.

Mohammad Nissam was arrested under the Kerala Anti-social Activities Prevention Act. According to ADGP N. Shankar Reddy, the security guard  initially did not notice his arrival  at the apartment complex at  Puzhakkal and failed to open the gate promptly. This provoked Nissam.

A habitual offender

An irate Nissam smashed the door and windows of the guard's accommodation. To escape from Nissam, the guard rushed behind the fountain near the gate.  Nissam turned his massive  Hummer on the hapless man, pressed him against the wall with the vehicle and attacked him  using an iron rod.

Later, he was rescued by other security guards. Nissam is managing director of Tirunelveli-based King Beedi Co. He has also hotel and jewellery businesses in the Middle East. His cars include Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Road Ranger, Ferrari and Jaguar. Earlier, Nissam  had  been booked in several cases.  In April 2013, he had allowed his nine-year-old son to drive a Ferrari in their residential complex in Thrissur, leading to a police case.

Later in the same year, during a police check, he allegedly locked a woman sub-inspector inside  his brand new Rolls Royce which he was driving  under the influence of alcohol.
