About 70 to 80 thousand students are studying in second, third & fourth years in them
Hyderabad: Affiliation of 143 engineering colleges in Telangana has been withheld by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad for this academic year.
About 70,000 to 80,000 students are studying in second, third and fourth years in these colleges and affiliation for these years still stands. However, the colleges have been asked to rectify their deficiencies within 45 days to receive affiliation for the coming academic year.
JNTU-Hyderabad filed a compliance report with the Supreme Court on Saturday. About 174 engineering colleges were denied affiliation by JNTU-Hyderabad last year prior to Eamcet counselling. Of them 163 colleges approached the Supreme Court terming the university’s action as illegal.
The apex court, while allowing for a special phase conditional counselling, asked JNTU-Hyderabad to get the colleges inspected.
