Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday permitted a petitioner to file a fresh petition seeking ban on screening of Venkatesh and Pavan Kalyan starrer movie 'Gopala Gopala'.
C. Raghunatha Rao, a resident of the city on Wednesday moved the Hyderabad High Court seeking a direction to the makers of the movie to withdraw the film from the theatres until re-certification of the film by the Central Board of Film Certification. The petitioner submitted that the movie is hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and the religion as it portrays Hindu spiritual gurus in poor light degrading them even denigrating women.
The bench pointed out that without making the producer and director of the film as a party to the case, it cannot grant any order. Then the petitioner urged the court permit him to withdraw the plea and file a fresh petition.
