After the huge success of his earlier film Run Raja Run, Sharwanand teams up with Nithya Menon for Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju. Kranthi Madhav, who got a Nandi award for his first film Onamalu, is the director of this romantic entertainer. Veteran producer K.S. Rama Rao has produced the film.
Raja Ram (Sharwananad) is a young sprinter studying in a college and preparing to win a gold medal at the national level. He lives with his mother (Pavitra Lokesh), a music teacher, and he respects her a lot. During one of his sporting events, he sees a burkha-clad girl Nazeera (Nithya Menon) and is captivated by her eyes. He starts chasing her and finally comes to know her. Both fall in love.
However, their lives changes due to some shocking incidents. They are separated from each other and do not know about each other's whereabouts. The film is about the various incidents that caused the separation and how the couple get back together.
There are many love stories which end with either a break-up or on a happy note, but director Kranthi Madhav has taken this love story to a new level. He shows the emotional side of the two lovers and their bond till the end. In the second half, the way the lead pair meets is emotional and moving. Sai Madhav provides some meaningful and intense dialogues. The other plus point is the music, which enhances the emotional scenes.
Sharwanand has already proved that he is an excellent actor and he once again comes up with a matured and brilliant performance. He is perfect in the two shades of his character - that of a young athlete and a mature man in the second half. Nithya Menon, another talented actress, is superb too. This film gives her a chance to showcase her talent. She is at ease both in the role of a college girl, and later as a mother. Tejswini too does a wonderful job as Nithya's daughter. Pavitra Lokesh played as Sharwanand's mother and comes up with a subdued performance.
Technically, the cinematography is good and explores the beauty of Vizag. After watching the film, one may wonder why our filmmakers make a beeline for foreign locales when there is so many beautiful places in our own country.
