The sequel to 2004’s Ab Tak Chhappan, is ready for release and the film is being touted as Nana Patekar’s comeback in Bollywood. Director Aejaz Gulab is confident that the film will do well. Aejaz says, “Nana has done a fabulous job in the film and all our promotions will centre on him. There are no songs in the film. Initially, we did plan to include one item song but then we realised it would be a misfit in this action-based story. So we have no songs, not even a promotional number.”

This being Aejaz’s debut, when asked how he bagged the project, he reveals, “The idea of making a sequel was of Nilesh Girkar’s, the writer of our film. He approached Ram Gopal Verma, who wanted the sequel to be action-packed. Sadhu Agashe (Nana’s character) is back with all the rage and frustration and wants to remove crime from the city. I was working with RGV at that time and he asked me to direct this film. We sat together and made sure we had a strong script.”

The sequel had been making news for quite some time. So what took the release so long? “The film was completed long ago, but that’s when the Ponty Chadha incident happened. Now things are back on track and we are ready for release.”
