Four projects top K Chandrasekhar Rao’s Hyderabad beautification list
CM had okayed the concept building designs of Telangana Kala Bharathi
Hyderabad: Four projects top Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s Hyderabad beautification list. They are the Telangana Kala Bharathi, a multi-theatre complex at NTR Stadium near Indira Park, the new Secretariat at the TB and Chest Hospital, the new pearl oyster shaped building at the Ravindra Bharathi and beautification of the Musi which will be taken up soon.
Top sources told this newspaper that the CM had okayed the concept building designs of Telangana Kala Bharathi and Ravindra Bharathi prepared by Mumbai architect Hafeez Contractor. Mr Rao has planned the Telangana Kala Bharathi comprising four new auditoriums and a massive interaction centre at the NTR Stadium which can accommodate a couple of thousand people.
In the CM’s “Vision Hyderabad” master plan the four new auditoriums will have a seating capacity of 2,750, 1,750, 1,000 and 700 depending on the size of functions and also a huge parking space.
The present Ravindra Bharathi can accommodate about 1,200 people. There is also a mini auditorium annexe which accommodates about 50 people.
Moreover, there is also a parking crunch at Ravindra Bharathi. Sources said the CM is in no mood to drop any of the four decisions despite strong protests from the Opposition especially against the shifting of the Secretariat to the TB hospital campus on grounds of “Vaastu” and the TB hospital to the Vikarabad TB sanatorium.
It is learnt that the advisor to the Chief Minister, Dr K.V. Ramana Chary, reportedly advised him not to demolish the Ravindra Bharathi till the completion of the new Telangana Kala Bharathi at NTR Stadium. The CM is also giving top importance to the Musi beautification programme stating that the Nandanavanam programme failed and that the Musi project had remained on paper.
