Water sharing row: KCR, Chandrababu Naidu bury the hatchet
The two Chief Ministers met in the presence of Governor ESL Narasimhan
Hyderabad: In a significant development, Chief Ministers of Telangana and AP, K. Chandrasekhar Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu, reached a settlement on water sharing from the available storage at the Nagarjunasagar Dam.
After the accord, the respective Engineering-in-Chiefs of both the states met and directed the dam officials to operate the Right Branch Canal gates to let the water go to Andhra Pradesh.

The two Chief Ministers accompanied by their irrigation ministers, secretaries and E-in-Cs met at the Raj Bhavan in the presence of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Saturday morning for almost an hour.

With the row over Nagarjunasagar water having ended, albeit temporarily, the focus has now shifted to power sharing between AP and Telangana.

The tussle erupted after the COD of the Krishnapatnam super thermal power plant (2x800MW) and also the Hinduja power plant (2x520 mw).
Telangana expects 862 MW from Krishnapatnam and 560 MW from Hinduja after commencement of operation of stage I and II of both the units. It had demanded its share of 53.89 per cent according to the Reorganisation Act but AP ruled out giving a single watt saying that these two are not part of the PPA mechanism.
