Veteran communist leader Govind Pansare, wife shot at in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Maharashtra: Senior CPI leader Govind Pansare and his wife suffered serious injuries after they were shot at by some unknown assailants in front of their house on Monday.
The incident took place around 8 am outside Ideal Housing Society, when the two were returning after their daily morning walk from Shivaji University.
While Pansare was hit by bullets on the nape of his neck and another brushing his hand, his wife Sau Uma Pansare suffered a single bullet injury, Kolhapur Superintendent of Police, Omprakash Sharma told PTI.
They were rushed to a hospital here, where they are presently being operated upon. Their condition is said to be critical.
Police have cordoned off the area and hunt for the attackers is on.
