Ooty restaurant introduces 10 special dishes

Ooty: Virat’s Kozhi, Starc’s Yorker, Sharma’s Sixer and Anderson’s Slide may stump you when you see them on the menu card of a hotel, but these and other such dishes are being served at Hotel Gem Park in Ooty to match strides with the cricket World Cup mood. The World Cup fever has taken a culinary route in this hill town with the hotel introducing quite a few new dishes named after cricketing heroes.

It was a kind of innovation to keep pace with the World Cup fever and give something tasty and different to foodie cricket fans to enjoy while watching the matches on the big screen erected at the hotel, said A Ismail Khan, resident director of Hotel Gem Park.

Listing out the dishes, he said, “Ten new dishes have been introduced. The all-time Dhoni’s favourite is herb-marinated, deep fried fish fingers. Virat’s Kozhi is a boneless chunk of chicken flavoured with pepper and garlic. Mitchell Starc’s Yorker is minced lamb, deep fried and tossed with hot garlic sauce. Dhawan’s Disguise is prawn wrapped in chicken breast, deep fried and served with spicy mango sauce. Anderson’s Slide is chilli fried potato. Sharma’s Sixer is chicken tikka pizza. Smith’s Veggie is vegetable cutlet stuffed with herb-flavoured cheese. Suresh Raina’s Sweet Drive is apple pie. Rohit’s Love is chocolate mousse and Ashwin’s Favourite is gulab jamoon in rabri.”

B Pradeep Kumar, Manager, Food and Beverages at the hotel said customers have begun to lap up the offer that will be on the menu till the World Cup finals.
