Mumbai: While the debate is getting stronger regarding calling teams like Ireland and Bangladesh ‘minnows’ despite being in the business for quite long time, Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin came out in full support of the Irish.

The spin-bowler – who also bats down the order – took to Twitter to voice his opinions.

“It's been great pleasure watching the new teams play in this World Cup. Right things are happening for sure,” he tweeted.

The ICC rule turned heads when it said only 10 teams will participate in World Cup 2019 to be held in England from May 30 – July 15.

However, Ireland’s road seems easy with cricketers from other nations backing them up.

Ireland has every ability to spring a surprise on Team India when the sides meet on March, 10 in Hamilton.

As of now, Ashwin shouts: “IRELAND.” Let’s hope too much love doesn’t end up being the weapon of destruction.
