Ongole: Swift action by parents and nurses saved seven infants who were being treated in the incubators room of the government area hospital in Kandukur town on Friday. All the seven infants are out of danger.
Sources said fire broke out in the incubators room in which the infants were being treated. When parents and paramedical staff noticed the fire at 1.30 pm they immediately rescued the infants.
Within a few minutes two AC machines and eight incubators were destroyed. Firemen put out the flames and brought the situation under control.
Government area hospital superintendent K. Srinivasulu said, “According to primary estimates the loss due to the fire is Rs 4 lakh. I think a short circuit led to the fire accident."
Fire officer P. Jalaiah said, “A short circuit caused the fire. As soon as we received information we reached the spot and put out the flames.”
