Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Saturday issued an ordinance to provide right of way for laying pipelines so that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s Telangana Water Grid project is completed quickly.

The ‘The Telangana Water Grid Pipelines (Acquisition of Right of User) Ordinance, 2015’ was issued to ensure that there is no delay in acquiring lands and get approvals from over a dozen departments for the purpose.

Pipelines will be laid along 1.27 lakh km to provide safe drinking water to every household at a cost of Rs 25,000 crore. The pipe-line has to pass through lands belonging to government agencies and private individuals, for which approval is required. The CM aims to complete the project in two years though a four-year deadline was originally set.
