Hyderabad: A good samaritan, who tried to protect a three-year old from falling onto the railway tracks, was mistaken for a kidnapper and roughed up by the child’s father. The incident happened at the Secunderabad Railway Station on Sunday when Bishnu, a polytechnic student, grabbed the child, S.K. Azmal, to move him away from the edge of the platform.
“The child was close to the edge of the platform. His parents were at a distance, waiting for their train. Seeing no one around, Bishnu tried to get the child out of danger, but his actions were misunderstood by the mother who raised an alarm,” said Government Railway Police inspector Anjaneyulu.
The inspector said Bishnu, a resident of Nalgonda district, does not understand Hindi very well. When Azmal’s parents confronted him, he was unable to explain his actions. Railway Police Force personnel cleared the misunderstanding. Neither Azmal’s parents, nor Bishnu, were available for comment.
