ALAPPUZHA: The split between State Secretary  Pinarayi  Vijayan and Central committee member  V.S. Achuthanandan seems  irrevocable with the latter leaving  his Velikakkakthu house, where he stayed put on Saturday after boycotting  the  21 Party Conference being held here.

The embattled party veteran, who had taken an  unrelenting stance ever since he got damning  report  from his rival, left for  his Cantonment house in the State capital at 4am,  adding a new  twist to the existing situation.

Mr Vijayan, continues his defiance despite reducing the  conference to an  ugly spat  between him and VS, and has  made no move to placate  VS.

On Sunday, Mr Vijayan reportedly informed delegates on Sunday that VS had been forewarned of the consequences of leaking the letter   to PB. "The warning was ignored by  VS.

That is why the party was forced to pass the resolution against him." However, Vijayan's new  move comes  in response to  VS's ruling  out the allegations of asking Central leadership to investigate how the letter was leaked.

However, the delegates participating in the  conference  lashed out at VS  on Sunday criticizing his absence. According to the media reports, majority of the delegates demanded strong action against VS as he continues to take swipes at the party's stand.   VS's decision to boycott  the conference has  given further fodder to  take punitive action against him.

What remains to be seen is whether he will be  inducted into the party committee. The State committee members list  is expected to be out by Monday.

However,  V.S. Achuthanandan, who is unlikely to quit the party, is still tightlipped  about  his future course of  action. A source close to VS informed this newspaper that he is   likely to speak to the  media on  Monday after ascertaining the situation of the PB meeting held on Sunday.
