Repeated blasts at Gulf Oil Corporation go unchecked
After each blast, the local police register a case against company officials for negligence
HYDERABAD: Despite the continuous blasts no major action has been taken against the Gulf Oil Corporation so far by the police or any other enforcement agencies.
After each blast, the local police register a case against company officials for negligence, for causing death under IPC sections, however, no significant arrests have been made in the last 12 years.
Sources say that most of the time, company officials managed to “settle” the matter inside with the complainants in each case. They also allegedly gloss over the gravity of the issue even as the investigation continued.
After each time, company officials have been giving explanations, but have made no efforts to improve the safety measures, sources from the firm said. The blast that occurred on Monday was so intense that one of the victims was thrown on to a wall that was 20 metres away. One of the staff said there are four employees, who crossed their retirement age, but are still placed in the disposal unit.
