Chennai: The state Directorate of Government Examinations will, for the first time, issue provisional mark sheets within two days from the day of announcement of results, to Class 10 and 12 students from state, matriculation, oriental and Anglo-Indian schools who will be taking a government examination this year. This will greatly help students applying for admission into college. School education secretary D. Sabitha said that students had so far received their marksheets about a week after the results were announced.

“From this year students can take a print out of their provisional marksheet from the government results website within two days of the publication of the results. The provisional certificate will have information, including photograph of the student, register number, marks secured and school name,” she told reporters on Wednesday after a meeting with district chief educational officers and other officials in the school education department regarding the smooth progress of government examinations this year.

This provisional certificate will be valid for three months and students who applied for a photocopy of answersheets for retotalling and revaluation will get it within 12 hours, Ms Sabitha said. A total of 10,72,691 Class 10 and 8,43,064 Class 12 students will take up government exams this year. The Class 12 exam starts on March 5 and gets over on March 31. Class 10 students will write their exams from March 19 to April 10.
