Rail Budget 2015: Soon, you can buy unreserved railway tickets in 5 minutes

Tickets could be booked 4 months (120 days) in advance against the current 60 days

Mumbai: Presenting his first Railway Budget on Thursday, Suresh Prabhu said that his ministry hoped to make life easier for the passenger.
 
Highlighting the need for overhauling the railways, Prabhu said that people would no longer have to wait in long queues to buy unreserved tickets. They would be book tickets online, within 5 minutes. 
 
Unreserved ticket purchase will be made simpler through smart phones, debit cards. A defence travel system has also been developed to make travel easier.  He also said that tickets could be booked 4 months (120 days) in advance against the current 60 days. 
 
A 24*7 toll free number 138 would also be launched to attend to passengers on real time basis. Mobile application to address railways complaints will soon be launched.
