Hyderabad: With Saturday being the deadline for the Telangana Land Regularisation Scheme, the state government has initiated steps to issue notices to property owners who have failed to submit the applications.

The government has informed revenue officials that the deadline will not be extended and steps should be taken to retrieve the encroached lands after issuing notices. Less than 300 and 5,000 applications were received in Hyderabad and RR districts respectively, under GO 59, which is the 'payment category' wherein owners need to pay registration charges as per prevailing market rates for plots above 125 sq.yards.

The government had issued GO 58, which was the ‘free category’ for people with annual family income of less than Rs 2 lakh and land holding of less than 125 sq.yards. While nearly 3 lakh applications were received under 'free category', the response was poor for ‘payment category’.
