Budget 2015: Infrastructure investment to increase by Rs 70,000 crore over 2015-16

Arun Jaitley proposed the electrification of 20,000 villages by 2020

Mumbai: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley unveiled the Union Budget 2015 on February 28, saying that the investment in infrastructure will increase by Rs 70,000 crore by 2015-16.

Delivering the Budget, Arun Jaitley proposed that, in order to provide better infrastructure, the government will ensure ‘house for all’ by 2022, under which the government will build two crore houses in rural India and four crore houses in urban India. Jaitley further proposed the electrification of 20,000 villages by 2020.

Jaitley said, medical facilities will be provided to each village and cities, as essential. The Finance Minister further announced the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund to be Rs 25,000 crore.

Arun Jaitley also proposed under the Budget 2015, that the government will work towards the development of 85,000 schools, so that there is atleast one senior secondary school within the distance of 5km of every child.
