Thane: Anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare, who is set to undertake a footmarch protesting the Land Acquisition Bill, has received life threats on social networking site Facebook, police said on Wednesday.

A Kalyan resident Ashok Gautam (57), who is associated with the movement of the veteran activist, has been getting messages in his account about harming Hazare for the last three weeks following which he lodged a complaint last night, inspector DM Katke of MFC police station said.

An FIR has been filed against two Canada-based persons, Agan Vidhu and his friend Neil, who threatened to come down to India and shoot Hazare dead, he said. Police is trying to trace the IP address from which the threat was issued besides carrying out a detailed probe with the help of the cyber cell of the police commissionerate in Thane.

Also, offences under sections 506(2) of the IPC and 66 A of the IT Act have been registered against the two accused.

Hazare's 1100-km foot march protesting the 'anti-farmer' Bill will span over a period of three months and is set to begin from Gandhi Ashram in Wardha to Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. Gautam is a social worker and has taken part in several agitations led by Hazare.
