Hyderabad: Opposition YSRC has lambasted the Telugu Desam government on an irrigation works GO.

Former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said the state government has withdrawn the GO, which was kept at abeyance by the Governor on irregularities in irrigation works involving Rs 22,000 crore.

“While in the Opposition TD had raised a hue and cry on the issue and has now withdrawn the same GO after coming to power, even without getting a Cabinet nod.” Mr Rao said that state should go for global tenders instead of allotting works on nomination basis to prove its transparency for capital area works.

“The state has to go for global tenders for developing the capital region and shun its corporate agenda of showing favours by allocating works on a nomination basis. It is amply clear as the Singapore government has categorically said that it is private parties and not the government that is dealing with the AP capital project,” he said.

He alleged that the state has drafted the CRADA Bill to gift any extent of land to any firm and has embedded provisions that benefit private players.  Reacting to TD’s criticism, he said, “It is the duty of the Opposition Leader to raise issues of public interest and that is what he is precisely doing.”

Farmers are in distress and he is meeting them. Regarding Pawan Kalyan he said, “TDP has been selective on his remarks. It said he has no awareness on the issue on one side and has taken his help on other occasions.”
