Mumbai: BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday went to meet RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh headquarters at Nagpur.

Mr Shah is said to have made attempt to persuade RSS boss who is unhappy with BJP’s policies on critical issues including formation of government in Jammu & Kashmir in coalition with People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and People’s Conference headed by Sajjad Lone.

Mr Shah arrived at Nagpur in the morning to meet Mr Bhagwat and the marathon meetings continued till the evening.

“RSS ideologues are said to be upset over no decision on Article 370 in J&K. They are also of the opinion that the lenient policy adopted by the BJP would disturb its core voter base,” said a senior functionary.

RSS also feels that they have been cornered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and are not being taken into consideration before important policy decisions are made.

The RSS also believes that the BJP is facing the problem of one-upmanship in its ranks and it is this that resulted in the party getting routed in the Delhi elections.

Against this backdrop, Mr Shah came to meet Mr Bhagwat and the meeting between both the leaders continued for hours. Senior RSS functionary Bhaiyyaji Joshi was also present for the meetings at the headquarters.

Sources claimed that the Mr Bhagwat even expressed his annoyance regarding J&K chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s controversial statement on Pakistan.

Sources said that the BJP chief gave clarifications on the contentious issues. He also tried to convince senior RSS functionaries that some decisions need to be taken as per the current political scenario.
