Watch: Sir Vivian Richards turns year older with a big hit
West Indian great released a single with the drummer of Australian band INXS
Sydney: Cricket great Sir Vivian Richards, who played for the West Indies and English county side Somerset turned 63 on Saturday. Arguably the most destructive batsman to have played the game, his swagger and confidence grew with every step, instilling fear in the opposition ranks.
This time around though, the great West Indian has used it in a recording studio and not on the cricket field. Sir Viv released a single with the drummer of Australian band INXS Jon Farriss, with "Smokin' Joe" featuring his deep tones that have been likened to Barry White.
The latest video won the heart of Richards’ daughter, ace Indian fashion designer Masaba Gupta who took to Twitter to express her happiness for her father.

Farriss met the West Indian, considered one of the greatest batsmen of all time, at a party in 2012 and said he instantly recognised his love for music. "Viv was such a charismatic and affable guy," he said in a statement on Thursday.

"We hit it off straight away and it wasn't hard to recognise his love of music. Given these parallels and my desire to hear him on a track, I approached him to see if he was interested in doing something musically, and thankfully he said yes," Farriss added.
Farriss' band INXS, one of the world's biggest acts throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, announced their retirement in 2012.
