Deepika Padukone to wear 20 kg armour in 'Bajirao Mastani'
The actress is undergoing extensive training to pull off the battle sequences
Mumbai: After a 35 kg gown for Anushka Sharma, its 20 kg armour for Deepika Padukone. For the sword wielding sequence in her next, 'Bajirao Mastani', the actress is expected to wear 20 kg armour. Earlier for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram-Leela’, Deepika had worn a 30 kg lehenga.
The actress will be essaying the character of half Lucknowi courtesan who fought in battles. She will break away from the trendy look to sport a bulky armour for the battle sequences. Deepika is also said to have been taking lessons in sword fighting and martial arts. She is undergoing extensive training to pull it off with ease while wearing her heavy outfit.
The costumes are designed by Anju Modi, known for her fabulous work in ‘Ram Leela’. ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is a story based on the life of Maratha Warrior Peshwa Baji Rao and also features Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.
