2 more die of swine flu, toll 73
‘In the first week of March we saw less cases but now once again there is a rise’
Hyderabad: Two more people — a 30-year-old woman from Medak district and a 45-year-old man from Hyderabad — died of H1N1 in Gandhi Hospital on Monday taking the toll to 73 in Telangana.
The patients came in very late for treatment, said, Dr K. Narsimulu, nodal officer at Gandhi Hospital. He added, “Despite raising so much of awareness, there are still some cases where we are finding that people are coming too late.” To prompt people to go for treatment early on, the information programme needs to be conducted at the grassroots levels. Dr G. Srinivas, in-charge for the state, said, “In the first week of March we saw less cases but now once again there is a rise. The dip in the temperature and also increasing cases in North and West India require us to be alert. Those who are travelling to these parts of India must be careful and take the required precautions.”
