Delay in staff split to hit local hiring
Kamanathan Committee’s time extended
Hyderabad: The Centre extended the Kamalnathan committee’s deadline till October 2015 to complete distribution of 60,000 state-cadre employees between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The committee’s one-year tenure is scheduled to end on March 31, but it has achieved little progress on this front so far. Currently, the committee is in the process of determining the cadre strength in each department and distribute the posts accordingly to TS and AP.
This was revealed by the Union minister for personnel Dr Jithendra Singh in a written reply given in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday to a question by TRS Lok Sabha member Dr Boora Narsaiah Goud.
However, in some departments in which posts were distributed, the committee has initiated the process to seek ‘options’ from employees to choose state-cadre based on ‘nativity’. This would mean the Telangana government cannot take up major recruitment drives till it gets clarity on the number of vacancies that exist by October.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been repeatedly claiming that the state could ascertain the number of vacancies only after the panel completes division of staff based on which TS Public Service Commission will issue job notifications.
The minister made it clear that the committee is yet to submit its report to the Centre on distribution of staff.
Dr Singh stated, "The deadline schedule for the submission of recommendations by the committee is October 15, 2015."
