Telangana to get separate High Court soon, says KCR
There has been intense agitations by the Telangana advocates demanding a separate HC
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday said the division of High Court will be completed in 15 days. Speaking in the Legislative Council, he alleged that “some forces with vested interests” were obstructing the division of the High Court.
Referring to the ongoing intense agitations by the Telangana advocates demanding a separate High Court for Telangana, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said, “People of Telangana will hear the sweet news soon on the bifurcation of the High Court. There are some forces with vested interests that are coming in the way of the bifurcation of the High Court. However, the problem will be resolved soon.” Mr Rao added that he would soon meet Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sen Gupta and urge him to expedite the bifurcation of the High Court.
“It is a general feeling among the people that the bifurcation of the state remains incomplete unless the High Court is divided and TS has its own High Court. Since the division of the High Court is essential and unavoidable now, the Centre would take a final call on the issue at the earliest. I urged the Centre to expedite the process to divide the High Court between TS and AP,” he said. Mr Rao informed the MLCs that Telangana Advocates’ JAC called on Union law minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda in Delhi on Saturday and urged him to take a speedy decision to bifurcate the High Court.
He said the Advocates’ JAC has got an assurance from Mr Gowda and a decision is expected very soon in this regard. Mr Rao also stated that there would be no power cuts in TS after May. “There are no major power cuts in the state now. Last year, by this time, there were heavy power cuts. I remember industrialists sitting on dharna at Indira Park against power cuts. This is not the situation now. We could meet the demand through purchase of power from the open market. After May, I can assure you that there would be no power cuts except for minor disruptions for maintenance works.”
