Visakhapatnam: The JR Nagar residents’ welfare association (JRNRWA) has won a rare recognition from New Delhi-based The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) for its effective response during the Hudhud cyclone in October 2014.

The JR Nagar residents welfare association also proved how residents can help the government machinery in combating natural disasters, the March 2015 issue of Terragreen said.

JR Nagar was selected as the best colony in Visakhapatnam in the ‘Clean Drive Contest’ organised by Deccan Chronicle.

It may be recalled that DC appreciated the efforts of the Association and handed over a cash prize and a citation as a token of recognition.

TERI published an article describing the disaster management steps taken up by the residents of JR Nagar.
