Logistic firm are even setting up separate units to cater to the e-commerce boom in the country
Mumbai: Leading logistics firms are beefing up their business operations to handle the exponential growth in e-commerce business with some of them even setting up separate units to cater to the e-commerce boom in the country.
Logistics companies like Deutsche Post AG, Safeexpress and DTDC Courier have created separate units to handle the boom in the e-commerce business while others like Rhenus Logistics India Private Ltd are planning to set up a special unit for e-commerce business.
“We were earlier handling only business to business consignments. But seeing the growth in e-commerce business in India, we have now created a separate e-commerce unit called Safeexpress B2C in April 2014. We are already handling about three lakh consignments per month,” said Pawan Jain, chairman and managing director, Safeexpress Private Ltd.
While Deutsche Post has launched DHL eCommerce, DTDC Courier and Cargo has launched a separate company known as DTDC E-Commerce Logistics to handle the boom in the e-commerce business.
