Orphanage head held for misbehaving with 12-year-old
Neredmet police said the orphanage has about 40 boys and girls
Hyderabad: The head of an orphanage at Neredmet was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly misbehaving with a 12-year-old girl. The accused, Sampath, 25, who is the caretaker allegedly used to touch the victim inappropriately and make sexual advances towards her. The incident came to light when the girl told her parents.
Neredmet police said the orphanage has about 40 boys and girls. Some of them have parents.
The kids stay in the orphanage to continue their education. Police said the accused who was a prominent person in the management allegedly used to misbehave with the victim who is studying in Class VIII.
“He used to touch her inappropriately. He also used to kiss her and make sexual advances. This happened a couple of times recently,” said inspector N. Chandra Babu. A complaint was lodged by the girl's mother on Tuesday.
“A case under Section 354-A under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act and Section 9 (f) of POCSO Act was booked against the accused. He was arrested and remanded,” the inspector said.
