Mumbai: Akshay Kumar's upcoming film ‘Airlift’ is touted to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller. Pictures of the team shooting for the film have found their way to social networking sites. To shoot the film, director Raja Menon required recreating Kuwait and Baghdad as it was in 1990s.

The film revolves around Akshay who plays the role of Ranjit Katyal, a wealthy and powerful Indian businessman. It is based on real incidents set in 1990 in Kuwait the time of famous Gulf war when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. He is supposed to help evacuate 1,70,000 people from Kuwait to India.

Reportedly, Akshay will be breaking away from his action avatar completely for this film. Though the film is essentially a thriller, the only action scenes are the movie’s war sequences.
