Hyderabad: An unidentified woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a park in the Officers’ Colony in Panjagutta in the early hours of Friday. The body was burnt beyond recognition. Though the police suspects that this might be a case of suicide, the murder angle is also not being completely ruled out. A suspicious death case was booked and is being investigated. The cops said the actual cause of death would be revealed after an autopsy.
The Officers’ Colony is home to many VIPs, including IAS officials. The body was found in a GHMC park between two quarters. On Friday morning, at around 6.30 am, a local identified as Uday noticed the burnt body of a woman, aged between 20 and 25. He immediately alerted the cops.
The CLUES team, the finger print team and a dog squad were pressed into action. The woman’s handbag, half burnt plastic bottle containing kerosene, a matchbox and other things were recovered from the spot. Empty white wine bottles were also found in bushes.
“It is too early to conclude if it is a suicide or murder. For now, a suspicious death case under Section 174 of the CrPC has been booked. Based on the autopsy report and further probe, the case may be altered later. The victim's DNA would be preserved for identification,” said S. Mohan, Panjagutta inspector. Three special teams have been formed to trace the victim’s identity and work on the case.
Meanwhile, questions are being raised on the security measures at the high profile area. Sources said there is not much patrolling and security arrangements are seen in the area. However, the cops denied this. It was learnt that between 1am and 2am on Friday, a local named Yadagiri, who is a watchman. heard dog barking from near the park but no cries of woman or fire was noticed.
