Realignment of Hyderabad Metro Rail project ‘absurd’
Opposition said realignment would cost the state exchequer dearly
Hyderabad: The Opposition Congress on Friday claimed in the TS Legislative Assembly that the realignment of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, as was being sought by the Telangana government, was “absurd” and based on the “whims and fancies” of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, which would cost the state exchequer dearly.
Stating that the CM was building “castles in the air”, Congress MLAs D.K. Aruna and Puvvada Ajay Kumar said the TRS government had been unnecessarily seeking realignment of the Metro from in front of the Assembly though there was no danger to the Assembly building or the T-Martyrs Memorial, and was imposing a Rs 3,000 crore additional burden on the state.
“We had finalised the Metro route based on a scientific study conducted by Metro experts. The Metro line will not touch the Assembly or T-Martyrs’ Memorial. In fact, it will pass at a considerable distance fro-m them.” Ms Aruna said.
